Hi, I'm Kay — and I’m living proof of the magic that happens at The Studio Standish!

My fitness journey before 2020 was… let’s just say unpredictable! I’ve always loved being outdoors and walking, but gyms and classes never quite stuck — until I found my people.

In August 2020, a friend introduced me to the amazing Studio Standish family. I was at my heaviest and struggling mentally, but from my very first low-impact class and beginner bootcamp, I felt supported, seen, and cheered on. Within just 8 months, my confidence soared, my strength and fitness skyrocketed, and I lost an incredible 2.5 stone!

One of my proudest moments? Competing in the Battle Cancer charity CrossFit event with fellow Studio Standish members — including hoisting a 30kg medicine ball like an absolute warrior! Being part of this close-knit, high-vibe community lit a fire in me. So much so, I trained to become an instructor myself! I’m now certified in Level 2 Exercise to Music and Group Training, Boxercise, HIITNRide and HIITstep — and I’m just getting started.

My classes? Expect energy, laughter, sweat and serious feel-good vibes. We work hard, we lift each other up, and we have a blast doing it.

Technique and Tone

Technique & Tone is a metabolic workout, designed to tone muscles and burn big calories during and after the class, without using high impact cardio moves!

The class is will get your heart rate up using a set of compound exercises, followed by short periods of rest. The repetition of exercises will improve technique and muscle memory, and you will begin to see developments as you are able to move through the exercises more confidently, whilst increasing your weights.

Barbells

Our Barbells class is a popular class, so book early to secure your spot!

With a series of exercises set to music, you will work all major muscles groups of the body, using weighted barbells, plates and dumbbells. Exercises include squats, deadlifts, rows, and presses, which will work the legs, back, chest, shoulders, arms and abs.

The upbeat music helps keep the energy levels high and encourages you to push through each set. This class is both a physical and mental challenge, that will leave you feeling stronger and more powerful each time!

If you have never done Barbells class before, you will be fully guided and instructed on all the moves, so come and give it a go. You will work with weights at your comfort level, and weights will be adapted according to each move with the barbell.

HIITstep

A powerful, music-driven HIIT workout using a step platform. Short bursts of intense moves with rest intervals to burn fat, build strength, and leave you buzzing. Think plyo, strength, and rhythm all rolled into one!
